6 ways to bring our focus back to God

When we're not focused on the things above, we're distracted by the things below (Matthew 12:30). The evil one’s only agenda is to destroy everything that is of God. He ensnares us with worldly focus with the intent to pollute our minds and blind us from the truth, keeping us stagnant and blocking us from our blessings and a true connection with our Father (Revelation 18:4). But, fortunately for us, we have a merciful God.

Here are some ways to bring our focus back to Him when we fall short.

Daily prayer time. Choose a time out of your day to spend with God every day.

Know His words. Read at least one chapter a day from the Bible.

Secular music fast. This fast helps to renew the mind. We can stunt our spiritual growth when we're digesting things that are not of God.

Bible study group. Being in a Bible study group allows us to learn about God and helps us to stay steadfast on the righteous path, sometimes through conviction. It is also a great support and prayer group. The Lord said where two or three are gathered in His name, He's in the midst of it (Matthew 18:20)

Memorize scriptures. When we retain the word of God, it helps us to remember who God is and that we are never alone. It also helps us to obediently walk in His will for us.

Take notes of your spiritual journey. Make a note of all the spiritual things you encounter. You might need to go back and look at God's past work in your life, when you feel doubtful and on your not-so-strong days. Also, it's really cool to look back and see how well God orchestrates everything for us when we are dependent on Him.

Lastly, 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." God wants to guide us to a place of peace and rest in Him. What He has in store for us surpasses all that we have acquired thus far and all that we think we can attain. Our Father is an all-powerful God, the evil one himself is dependent on him. That being said, He's always knocking, you just need to open the door. (Job 1:6-12).
